Google Summer of Code 2026: Ideas

• OpenVPN (userspace)

  • add Multi-Path TCP support
  • write minimal P2P client driving DCO interface (HARD)
  • support multiple subnets on the server (and allow assigning each client to a different one)
  • extend client-to-client routing logic with system routing table lookup
  • create a library encapsulating the whole DCO logic (libovon-dco)

• ovpn (Linux kernel module)

  • add Multi-Path TCP support
  • add IGMP snooping for multicast traffic forwarding
  • implement session key negotiation in DCO
  • add support for the MSSFIX logic
