#923 closed Bug / Defect (fixed)

Easy-RSA configuration fails with error:0E065068

Reported by: SchlauFuchs Owned by: Eric Crist
Priority: blocker Milestone:
Component: easy-rsa Version: OpenVPN 2.4.3 (Community Ed)
Severity: Not set (select this one, unless your'e a OpenVPN developer) Keywords:

I am following through with the guide at

build-ca fails with

error:0E065068:configuration file routines:STR_COPY:variable has no value:conf_def.c:592:line 283

As the error message does not explain what variable is missing I can't fix it myself.

I used the openvpn-install-2.4.3-I602 installer from the download page. This is a Windows 10 64bit system, latest patches applied.

If you followed that Old Guide correctly you will not have permission to edit files in that directory, you must use an admin command prompt.

A more suitable method would be to copy the entire openvpn/easy-rsa directory to your home directory and work on it there.

Ensure you change this line in vars.bat:
set HOME=\path_to\copy_of\esay-rsa

If done correctly, I do not get this error.

Does this error occur if you use the 3.0.3 release of EasyRSA? I believe version 2.x is included with OpenVPN.

This error does not occur with easy-rsa-3.0.3 on Windows 10.
