OS X Notification Center Support

Reported by: milkybarkid2014 Owned by: OpenVPN Inc.
Priority: trivial Milestone:
Component: OpenVPN Connect Version:
Severity: Not set (select this one, unless your'e a OpenVPN developer) Keywords: OS X, Notifications
Cc:

Description

Description:
On OS X Mavericks, when Open VPN Connect is showing its progress in connecting, it shows a notification in a dark black box in the top right hand corner. This overlaps OS X Notifications and cannot be cancelled (the user has to wait for it to fade out). Fully supporting OS X Notifications provides a way to avoid these issues and provide a cleaner user experience.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Launch OpenVPN Connect.
  2. Select a VPN server to connect to and click connect
  3. Notice how a black notification box appears in the top right hand corner of the screen
  4. If a new notification is received by the OS (e.g. for a message or email), the black notification overlaps the notification

Suggested Fix:
Support Local Push Notifications as specified in the Apple Developer Notification Programming Guide here:
https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/NetworkingInternet/Conceptual/RemoteNotificationsPG/Introduction.html
