Description
The proxy configuration directive in OpenVPN is only valid for static computers which are always connected to the same network. On mobile devices the proxy needs to be defined in a by-network basis, and so, iOS has a proxy configuration option in the wifi configuration screen.
OpenVPN Connect (iOS) should use the proxy configured for the current network in order to access the OpenVPN server. Also use the proxy configuration options in the Settings App (OpenVPN Connect section) to setup the proxy for the rest of apps after the link to the OpenVPN server has been made.

For what it's worth, I'd be happy to contribute a pull request for this feature. Is the iOS app on github at all?

The source code for the iOS app is not available is not available in a public source code repository right now, but will be soon. I have no hard timelines at this point, as I'm not the one making the official release.

OpenVPN Inc does not want to receive any feedback for the "Connect"
OpenVPN clients via the community bug trackers (here and in GH issues).
Please resubmit - if still relevant - via https://support.openvpn.net/
This would be very useful. I currently have one wireless network that requires an HTTP proxy, and must chose between using OpenVPN on one network via HTTP proxy, or all other networks without a proxy.
A far easier solution would be to use the system proxy settings, which are defined on a per-network basis in iOS.
